El Yali National Reserve

Located in Santo Domingo, the reserve has 520,37 hectares where you can find lagoons and other geographic formations.

Administrated by CONAF, the reserve holds more than 100 species of avifauna. In the other hand, El Yali Estuary, Cabildo, Colejuda, Guairavo, Matanza and El Rey Lagoons, belong to the Complejo de Humedales del Litoral Central de Chile, a very important organization in the area.

Fifth region. Located 35 kilometers south of Santo Domingo and 135 kilometers south of Valparaiso.

How to get there?

From Valparaiso: Land route, by Route 68-CH. Then take to Casablanca, route to San Antonio, until Santo Domingo. Then, take Route 66 until El Convento.

When to go?

All year long.


Mediterraneo weather. There is cloudiness in the shore all year long and the temperature is homogeneous. The annual media precipitations are 450 milimeters during winter time. In the interior, the rain reaches the 250 milimiters per year.

You have to ask for an authorization in the Corporacion Nacional Forestal in Valparaiso (Calle 3 norte #541, Viña del Mar). The entrance is $2000 Chilean pesos adults, and $500 Chilean pesos for kids.
