Get to know a bit more about the Hotel

Mallín Colorado, a cozy, secluded countryside with four cabins, constructed in 12 acres, facing the huge lake General Carrera, 4 hours south of the airport of Balmaceda and five hours from the city of Coyhaique.

From the hill upon, where the cabins are situated, you can appreciate the majestousity of the landscape and the panoramic views. The cabins are built with wide bow-windows incorporating the landscape to the inner decoration of the lodge.

Mallín Colorado is a unique log cabin resort, with fine oak floors and peeled cypress posts, wich give your stay a warm rustic elegance. These materials incorporate harmonically the landscape without "dirtying" it with strange elements.

We have equipped the cabins with all the comforts necessary for a complete relaxation time: box spring beds and authentic down, jacuzzi, burning chimneys, frigobar, etc.

The cabin Cypress (90 mts2.), for eight people, has a suite and two bedrooms with two and four single beds each and a second complete bathroom. Wide and comfortable living and dining room for big groups.

The cabin Ñirre (70 mts2.), for six people has a suite with private bathroom; two double bedrooms and a second complete bathroom. Living and dining room with burning chimney.

The cabin Raulí (49 mts2), for four people, has a suite with a huge window until the floor and wide view to the lake; a second bedroom with two single beds. Complete bathroom with jacuzzi. Living and dining room in front of wide bow-window and view to the lake.

The cabin Coigue (36 mts2), for two people, has a double bed, integrated to a wide space comfortably equipped, looking through the park to the lake. Complete bathroom with jacuzzi.

GASTRONOMY
Mallín Colorado has been characterized from its beginnings by the excellent food that offers to its visitors. Home cooking is provided by the host family. They give each meal a special flavor. All the recipes are prepared exclusively using the products of the green garden and local meats and fish, prepared in a typical patagonian kitchen and in chilean clay pots. They highlight fine bakery like raspberry cakes, kneaded bread, butter cookies and many other fine delicattessen. Service to the cabins. The cabins have frigobar.

ACTIVITIES
With the purpose that the visitor really exposes her spirit to strong experiences in contact with nature, PATAGONIA PACIFICA has organized varied outdoor activities, traveling remote roads, going into in the native forest or navigating on the crystalline waters of the Lake General Carrera. All the available activities are carried out in the direct area near to the lodging place, Mallín Colorado.

Horsebackriding to lagoon Mallín Colorado
Duration: 4 hours. A morning tour through the surrounding forest of coigues, ñirres and lengas, with wonderful views over lake General Carrera, lake Bertrand and breathtaking North Ice Fields and their snowdrifts falling down to the lake. We arrive up to a wide plain where you can see Mallín Colorado lagoon, with a marshy surface over which a beautiful red flower grows. Soft adventure.

Visit to the Marble Cathedral
Duration: 4 hours. Traveling during one hour toward the town of Puerto Tranquilo. We travel aboard to the marble caverns, which have been caved by the water during thousands of years. We enter in the caves by boat and can appreciate the spectacular combination of colors of the water with the whiteness of the rocks. You can take out pictures and in summer times you can swim inside the caverns. Travel back in one hour to Mallín Colorado. Soft adventure.

Raft on river Baker
Duration: 4 hours. Traveling south during half an hour until Puerto Bertrand, beside the lake that takes their same name. Basic course of security in rivers, change of clothes and practice on the gentle waters of the lake. Spectacular descence of 12 kilometers, aproximately an hour and a half, possibilities to swim in summer time. Arriving to the shore, change of clothes, hot coffee and turn to Puerto Bertrand and in half hour to Mallín Colorado. Medium adventure.

Horsebackriding to river and glacier Leones
Duration: 8 hours. Travelling 20 minutes from the cabins, you arrive the river Leones, where you ride the fully equipped horses. You begin to ride up the hill skirting the river Leones until arriving to the lagoon Leones, where you can appreciate the immense glacier. Walk on the area, excellent picture and riding back, where a gaucho waits you with a typical Patagonian barbecued lamb for dinner. Photography.

Sightseeing on board
Duration: 6 hours. Sailing on the crystalline calipso waters of lake General Carrera , you will see an impressive view to the eternal ice heights. Visiting lots of secluded beaches with white sands and native forests in the narrow lake Bertrand. Possibility to walk and have a pic- nic in a very isolated forest at the shore of the lake. Soft and relaxing. Photography.

Trekking
Duration: 2 hours.Walking through a path inside Mallín Colorado, going up sharp hills amidst the virgin nature and coigue, ñirre and cypress forest. Beautiful views. Birdwatching. Photography.

Rafting to Caleta Tortel
Duration: 4 days. Travel in van two hours until Cochrane. Change of clothes and complete team of rafting, basic course of security in rivers.Rafting during four days down the river Baker, with bilingual guide. Includes lodging in camping and all meals. Arrival to Tortel, lodging in the hostel of the town. Travel back to Mallín Colorado. High adventure. Photography.

Flyfishing in cataraft on the river Baker
Duration: half a day Travel of half an hour until Puerto Bertrand's town. Fly fishing in cataraft specially equipped, and with specialized guide. Possibility to practice catch and release on a incredible surrounding and in a wondderful and unique river. Turn to Mallín Colorado.
