Visit the main archeological sites of San Pedro de Atacama, soaking up the pre-columbian culture.
Itinerary
We start our excursion about 08:00 hrs.
Interesting visit to the most representative archeological places that show the development of the Atacamenian culture. Discover the origin of this culture, visit the archeological monument called “Aldea de Tulor”, 2800 years old. Relive, accompanied by native Atacama guides, the beginning of the sedentary life of the first inhabitants of the Atacama Desert.
The pre-Columbian trail continues visiting Pukará de Quitor, Atacamenian Fortress built in the XII century. The Ruins are symbol of the highlight of the Atacama indigenous social organization. Be amazed by the story about the fights to take the Pukara, when the Spaniards arrived in Atacama.
Remember de facts, step by step as related of as our guides, walking in the symbol of the indigenous resistance in the San Pedro of Atacama zone. We finish our trip through history visiting the Tambo de Catarpe, administrative center built by the Incas, in order to collect taxes and spread the traditions of the Empire of the Sun in Atacama. Return to San Pedro de Atacama at 12:00 hrs. aprox.
