From Balmaceda Airport, we will be leaded through a breathtaking landscape heading south with a short stop at the Cerro Castillo viewpoint where we will be able to enjoy a spectacular and majestic panorama of the Río Ibáñez Valley and its sharp peaks. Here we will also enjoy a delicious lunch in a typical restaurant called La Querencia.

We will continue heading to the hotel, and soon, the different and beautiful sceneries embrace the impressive General Carrera Lake, the largest in Chile whose waters refract its turquoise blue, permanent company until the arrival in the Hacienda Tres Lagos in Puerto Tranquilo.

Once at the hotel, we will have a welcome drink, and after that, we will enjoy an exquisite gastronomy.

Day 02: Boat Trip “El Gorbeano”

Enjoy a wonderful tour of two lakes of captivating beauty in the Chilean Patagonia. The trip starts from the dock located at the southern end of the General Carrera Lake (only 5 minutes’ drive from the Hacienda), where we will board the El Gorbeano, a custom 10-passenger embarkation which meets all safety standards. The General Carrera Lake, which is characterized by turquoise waters, has an area of 1850 km ², of which 970 km ² correspond to Chilean territory and the remaining 880 km ² to our neighboring country, Argentina, where the lake its named of Buenos Aires. From this lake, the second largest in South America, we see different islands and snowy mountains.

Crossing the Carrera Lake, we will get to “La Pasarela” place where the General Carrera Lake forms a short but wide river, which gives birth to the Bertrand Lake. We will cross through a virgin landscape that reveals views of giant glaciers, regarded as the beginning of the Northern Ice Fields. The Northern Ice Field covers an area of approximately 4,200 km ² and it is located entirely within the XI Region. It has a dimension of approximately 120 km long from north to south and 50-70 km wide (depending on latitude).

We will continue sailing until we reach the private beach of Hacienda Tres Lagos, where our guides will prepare a memorable lunch, surrounded by glaciers. The journey continues through the Bertrand Lake, back to the General Carrera Lake.

In the way back to the dock we will find the water is a little bit more wild.

Day 03: Marble Caves and Explorers Valley

Through the scenic Carretera Austral you will travel heading north to visit the incomparable Marble Caves, which are a unique phenomenon in the world.

During a boat ride over the crystal-clear emerald waters of the General Carrera Lake, we will be able to admire stony formations. Over the time and with the effects of wind and water turned different color structures into these solid marble stones. A unique and unforgettable scene!

Passing the cozy village of Puerto Tranquilo, we will enter the Explorer´s Valley, where we will be able to discover a landscape of wide variety and extraordinary beauty. A breathtaking virgin flora along the road reveals ancient woodlands, emerald lakes, turbulent rivers and tremendous glaciers, until we reach the highest peak of the Patagonia, the famous San Valentín Mountain, which marks the beginning of the enormous Northern Ice fields.

We will hike up a short trail through native woods until we reach the viewpoint of the Glacier Explorer from where we will observe a spectacular panorama of the San Valentín Mountain.

Then we will stop in a peaceful river shore to have lunch and relax, before the trip back to the Hacienda.

Day 04: Tamango National Reserve

Travelling through the Carretera Austral (Southern Road), we will see several natural attractions. We will arrive in the confluence of the Baker River and the Nef River: a place where the wildest river in Chile confronts the waters of the Nef River, an owe-inspiring natural show worthy of being watched.

When we get the town of Cochrane, we will enter the Tamango National Reserve, a unique and stunning place. During our trip by boat crossing the pristine waters of the Cochrane Lake, we will be able to enjoy the beauty of the landscape.

We will carry out a brief walk through virgin forests where we will be able to watch, with some luck, huemul, this beautiful and endangered deer is the symbol of our Chilean emblem. After this walk, we will take a boat to visit the Cochrane Lake.

At the end, at the dock, we will enjoy an exquisite Chilean-style barbecue.

We will return to Hacienda Tres Lagos, through an alternative way including the Baker River crossing by raft. Then we will go through a way full of typical Patagonian geography, and once again by the Baker River crossing a hanging bridge to the Hacienda.
