Spend a few days at Mallin Colorado Ecolodge in the scenic region of Aysen Patagonia, Chile, on the shores of Lake General Carrera and visit Caleta Tortel. It stands on Rio Baker's delta, an estuary of fiords between Northern and Southern Icefields.
Itinerary
Visit one of the less known places in the world with the famous Mallín Colorado service in the Southern Austral Road. All the area is probably one of the most attractive places in Chile, where you can find General Carrera Lake, Baker River and Caleta Tortel. The Austral Road crosses one of the most uneven and rugged areas in the world.
From Balmaceda airport to Caleta Tortel, with chofer/guide during the whole trip, excursions and full board included.
Itinerary:
Day 01:
Reception at Balmaceda airport and transfer during 240 kms to the lodge. Lunch during the trip and excursion to the Marble caves near Puerto Tranquilo. Reception in Mallín Colorado Ecolodge, dinner and lodging.(240 kms)
Day 02:
Breakfast in the main lodge. Walking or horsebackriding to Mallín Colorado Lagoon through native forests of Coigüe and Lenga, with excellent views to the Glaciers of Cordón Contreras. Lunch and afternoon free to walk in the 3 kms. of pathways in the property of Mallín Colorado or simply to enjoy a stunning view. Dinner and lodging.
Día 3:
Breakfast early in the morning and transfer in direction to Caleta Tortel visiting Puerto Bertrand and river Baker, its confluence with river Nef and the town of Cochrane. Lunch on the road and arrival in Caleta Tortel. The town consists in an ingenious network of footbridges, stairs and bridges that go over rocks, vegetation and marshes, connecting the piers with the houses distributed in different sectors of Caleta Tortel. Lodging in rustic but elegant lodge.
Day 4:
Free day in Caleta Tortel to walk around the hundreds of stairs and bridges made of Cypress wood, take photographs and enjoy the amazing views. Lunch and dinner in the lodge.
Day 5:
After breakfast, return to Mallín Colorado for dinner and lodging. (420 kms.)
Day 6:
Breakfast in the main lodge and possibility to choose among any excursion included, close to the lodge in order not to travel too much again with the car, like a boat excursion on lake Bertrand or a full day hiking to the fossils in Puerto Guadal, or rafting on river Baker. Lunch and dinner in Mallín Colorado.
Day 7:
Breakfast and transfer to Balmaceda airport during 5 hours. Lunch on the road. (240 kms.)
