Itinerary
The Ñandú Park is a private area located 50 kilometers to the North of the City of Punta Arenas. The excursion begins bordering the Mythical Strait of Magellan, one of the busiest navigation routes in the world used by the most valiant explorers in the history like Sir Francis Drake, Sarmiento de Gamboa, Fitz- Roy and Darwin among others and allow us to observe the arid and vast Patagonia Steppe. Upon arrival is possible to walk watching some introduces species and some wild Patagonian species in semi-captivity. The walk starts visiting the areas of Magellanic Penguin (Spheniscus magellanicus) and King Penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus), following with the area for flightless birds like the Patagonia Lesser Rhea (Pterocnemia pennata), the Australian Emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae) and the African Ostrich (Struthio camelus) to feed and touch them. The walk continues in order to find the largest mammal in Chile, the Guanaco (Lama guanicoe), South American camelid native of Patagonia together with its relatives the Alpacas (Vicugna pacos). To finish the walk we will visit the area of Austral Parakeet (Enicognathus ferrugineus), migratory bird of tropical climate that arrive every year in Patagonia for nesting.

Physical demand: 1 km round trip (3/4 of a mile) on a flat area usually windy.
