Montegrande
Monte Grande is a town located 110 meated 110 meters above sea level, in Valle del Elqui. It´s a small town with one narrow street placed between the river and the hill; it was declared Typical Zone in 1990. It is most important and known because it's the birthplace of Nobel winning poet Gabriela Mistral. In Monte Grande you can find the Main Square, the School and house of Gabriela Mistral, her grave and multiple tourist services.

Fourth region. Located 92 kilometers southeast of La Serena, 9 kilometers south of Paihuano and 3 kilometers south of Pinto Stream.
How to get there?
Anywhere-La Serena: Land route, by Panamericana Highway north (473 kilometer) Santiago, Arica, Iquique, Antofagasta, Copiapo-La Serena: Airway. La Serena-Paihuano: Land route, by Internacional Route Gabriela Mistral CH-41. Then, take Road D-485 Paihuano-Monte Grande: Land route, Road D-485.

All year long.
Climate
Semiarid. Arid in the north and mild in the south. The shore temperatures are homogeneuos, and in the interior the temperature oscillates between day and night time. Rain in winter season.
