Itinerary
Itineray:
Day 1: Airport – Santiago – City Tour
Reception at Santiago airport and transfer to selected hotel In the afternoon City tour in Santiago. Santiago is a mixture between the old and the modern, characteristic that we invite you to know. Our tour through Santiago will show the immensity of the city, its varied geography and civility. We will guide you through Plaza de Armas, Main square of Santiago, where the cathedral, main post office and city hall are located. You will be told about the origins of our city. Next stop is the civic neighborhood and the surroundings of La Moneda government palace. After that we´ll drive through some of the old neighborhoods of Santiago, like Republica and Concha y Toro, Later we will visit the eastern part of the city and we'll see the modern buildings and the changes that they have brought to the neighborhood. We finish our tour in a handicraft store (Faba), located in an exclusive neighborhood, where we'll appreciate with a Pisco Sour, Lapizlazuli masterpieces, made with this stone that just exists in Chile and Afghanistan. Come back to hotel. Lodgging.
Day 2: Santiago – Arica – Codpa Valley Lodge
Breakfast and transfer to Airport to take the flight to Arica. Reception at the airport of Arica, visit Azapa Valley, and its archaeological museum. Lunch beside the sea. We continue heading south towards Codpa Valley. Arrival to Codpa, beautiful oasis town hidden in a deep ravine, visit the church. Dinner and lodging at Codpa Valley Lodge. (B,L,D)
Day 3: Codpa Valley - Putre
Visit the Ofragía petroglyphs. Then take the path to reach to Timar, Tignamar and Saxamar. Short trekking to the hidden creek. Picnic. The tour continues through the towns of Belen and Chaquipiña before reaching to Zapahuira. Then we take a trip to the viewpoint of Putre, dominated by the Tarapaca volcano. After take a relax in the hot springs of Jurasi, we go down to Hotel in Putre. (B,L,D)
Day 4: Putre - Chungara Lake - Surire Salar – Colchane
Early we go out to visit the National Park Lauca, the people of Parinacota and the famous Lake Chungará. Then, we go in the southern part towards the Surire Salar. Lunch and bath in the thermal baths. Then we cross the national Park Isluga. Finally we come to the frontier people of Colchane (3.800 m.o.s.l.) where we lodge in a hotel. (B,L,D)
Day 5: Colchane – Lirima – Huasco Salar – Pica
We took a mountain road that leads to cross, more than 5,000 meters high, between Churu and Alto Chaviri. Then visit the town of Lirima and lunch at the Baths of “Aguas Calientes”. In the afternoon, we hike the Huayco Salar before reaching the oasis of Pica to stay. Enjoy with the natural pool of the oasis. Hotel. (B,L,D)
Day 6: Pica – Calama – San Pedro de Atacama
View of Tirana, the ghost town of Humberstone and geoglyphs of Cerro Pintado. Then we took the road to Calama and San Pedro de Atacama. Lunch on the road. At sunset, visit to the Moon Valley, then transfer to selected hotel, accommodation in San Pedro de Atacama. (B,L)
Day 7: San Pedro de Atacama – Moon Valley
In the afternoon, departure from the hotel to The Moon Valley. In the way which join San Pedro with Calama, stop for photographing the Salt Mountain from a viewing point. After in the moon valley, we will visit the salt statues “Las Tres Marías”, the salt mine, the salt caverns and we will look the evening since a big sand dune. Come back to hotel. Lodging.
Day 8: Excursion to Puritama Hot Springs
Breakfast in the hotel. At 09:00 hrs. departure to the Puritama hot springs. Located at 18,7 mi. aprox. of San Pedro de Atacama. Thermal waters, which down in subterranean way from the Salt mountain and flow into this pools created by the nature. (B)
Day 9: Atacama Salt and Toconao
During the evening departure to Atacama salt. Arrive to Toconao town, visit for the town (30 minutes). After we will visit the stone quarry Liparita in the Jerez Valley. Continuing, we will visit the Atacama salt, we will reach to the Chaxa Lagoon, for looking the flamingoes and wait the evening. Come back to hotel, lodging.
Day 10: Archeological Tour
Breakfast in the hotel. At 09:00 hrs. visit to Pukará del Quitor and the salt mountain. Arrive to the Tulor ruins with more than 3000 years old. Come back to San Pedro for the Séquitor Ayllu. Come back to hotel at 13:00 hrs. Rest of the evening free. Lodging. (B)
Day 11: Tatio Geysers – Airport – Santiago
Early in the morning (06:00 hrs. aprox.) departure from the hotel. Breakfast and trekking to the different geysers and shower in the thermal swimming pool. Come back to San Pedro de Atacama by Machuca, a typical atacameñan town. Transfer to airport to take the flight to Santiago. Reception in Santiago airport and transfer to selected hotel, lodging.
Day 12: Santiago
Breakfast and free day to relax, explore and enjoy the city of Santiago, lodging.
Day 13: Santiago – Coyhaique – Terra Luna
Breakfast and transfer to Santiago airport to take the flight to Coyhaique. Reception at Coyhaique airport and transfer to Terra Luna Lodge. We follow the Austral road to Puerto Guadal. On the way, we visit “Villa Cerro Castillo”, wonderful plain dominated by the mountain that takes the same name. We had lunch in a Typical Patagón Restaurant, then we follow to Puerto Tranquilo and (weather conditions allowing) we do a boat excursion to the “Marble Chapel" fantastic maze of caves drawn by the millenary waves of the lake. Arrival to Puerto Guadal. Welcome drinks and dinner in Terra Luna Restaurant on the shore of General Carrera Lake. (B,L,D)
Day 14: Terra Luna – Fossiles – Terra Luna
In the morning transfer to the surroundings of Puerto Guadal, where we enjoy a day of horseback riding up to the “Veranada” where we can find thousands of fossiles. A breathtaking view over the landscape and the mountains San Valentin (4.058 m.o.s.l.) and San Lorenzo (3.706 m.o.s.l.) awaits us. Back to Terra Luna. (B,L,D)
Day 15: Terra Luna – Puerto Bertrand – Terra Luna
Another day full of activities! Leaving Terra Luna in the morning for a mountain bike tour to laguna la manga (2 hrs). Then transfer to Puerto Bertrand, the spring of Rio Baker, where we will have lunch. In the afternoon river rafting or fly Fishing in Rio Baker (grade 2). Transfer back to Terra Luna. (B,L,D)
Day 16: Terra Luna – Leones Glacier – Terra Luna
Day of trekking to Leones Lake. Passing valleys and beautiful countrysides, we appreciate the glacier Mapuche and the mountain range of the “Valle del Leon”. We reach the lake and do a zodiac excursion to the glaciar. Back to the car in the Valle del Leon which will take us back to Terra Luna. (B,L,D)
Day 17: Terra Luna
In the morning we enjoy the canopy, before to transfer to Rio Meliquina for a fantastic afternoon of canoeing towards lake General Carrera. Back to Terra Luna. (B,L,D)
Day 18: Terra Luna – Balmaceda – Punta Arenas
Breakfast in Terra Luna Lodge and transfer to Balmaceda airport for connecting flight to Punta Arenas. Reception at the airport of Punta Arenas and Transfer to selected Hotel, lodging. (B)
Day 19: Punta Arenas – Puerto Natales
Breakfast and transfer to the city and to the local terminal to take regular bus for the city of Puerto Natales. Duration 03:15 hrs. Arrive to the city. Transfer from terminal to hotel and lodging. (B)
Day 20: Excursion to Torres del Paine National Park
Breakfast. At 09:30 hrs. departure from hotel to connect with a trip to Torres del Paine National Park, where we will have a nice panoramic view of Paine Mountain as welcome. Also we will admire lakes as Sarmiento, Nordenskjold and Pehoe. Its fauna will be present through huanacos and foxes, among others, and big variety of birds of easy observation during the trip. A short trek will take us to a big waterfall called Salto Grande, which is part of park hidrographical net. Later, retaking the main way, it access to CONAF central office, to continue to Lake Grey, where after to walk (30 minutes) through a millenium forest, we will get to its beach to admire a great number leading offs floes from glacier. A box lunch is included in the service. At the end of tour we will reach other Hostería located in Serrano River sector, the natural limit of Park. Lodging. (B,BL) Day 21: Trekking to Base of the Towers
Breakfast. Depart from Hostería to start our guided excursion to the footsteps of Torres del Paine (there are optional tours). It`s a trek of 8 hours (high exigence) following the Ascencio River towards the Ascencio Valley by trail paths through beech forests. After crossing the forest we will start the last part of trekking ascending a huge big rocks moraine produced by glacier action. If weather conditions allow it you will be a privileged visitor who can admire these three giant granite towers (South, Central and North towers) and Torres snow-drift. After 1 hour being awed by the landscape we will start our return following the same path back to Hostería. A box lunch type is included. Lodging in Hostería. (B,BL)
Day 22: Sailing on Serrano River - Punta Arenas
Breakfast. At 9:00 a.m. we begin our down stream sailing along Serrano River on a 10 passengers zodiac type vessel. This sailing include all personal sailing equipment. We will sail by approximately 4 hours along 32 kms. of river, where will be able to observe nice panoramics views of Tyndall, Geike Glaciers, beech native forests and a lot of everlasting snow-covered peaks. At the end of navigation on zodiac we will approach land on Puerto Toro docking area in the Bernardo O´Higgins National Park, from where we will start a short trek to Serrano Glacier crossing a native forest and the lake´s shore. A box lunch type or lunch is included. At approximately at 14:00 hrs. we will connect with larger vessel to return to Puerto Natales city. Once in the city transfer to terminal to board intercity public bus to Punta Arenas. Reception at bus station and transfer to hotel. Lodging. (B,L)
Day 23: Punta Arenas - Penguin Colony (until February 28, 2015 only)
Breakfast. Free morning to runover the city or take any optional excursion. By the afternoon, at 16:00 hrs., depart from your hotel heading north to Otway Inlet Penguin Colony, place where hundreds of magellanic penguins gather every year to nest. This colony is located approximately 70 kms. from the city. During the trip we will see Cabo Negro (Cape Black), Kon Aiken (which means "the place of the winds" in Tehuelche language) and Pecket sector which is one of the biggest coal mines in Chile. In addition, we will see a great variety of birds such as caiquenes (upland goose), ñandus (lesser rheas) and chilean flamingoes. Once in the reserve we will walk along the “Otway Inlet coast for approximately 1 km, and be able to observe the habitat of this beautiful specie. Without doubt the lanscape and the penguins will make this excursion unforgettable. Return to Punta Arenas. Lodging. (B)
IMPORTANT: Penguin Colony available until February 28 only. After this date, if it is not possible to visit the Penguin Colony, a Punta Arenas city tour can be carried out in order to discover its streets and secrets.
Day 24: Punta Arenas
Breakfast. Transportation to the airport to take the flight to Santiago. Reception in Santiago airport and transfer to selected hotel. Free afternoon to rest and enjoy the city, lodging. (B)
Day 25: Santiago – Easter Island
In the morning transfer to airport to take the flight to Easter Island. Reception at Mataveri airport and typical welcome. Transfer to hotel, lodging. (B)
Day 26: Easter Island
Half day excursion to Rano Kao volcano, with an important archaological value, because it has more than 300 monuments in the “Moai Road”. It´s 100 meters of altitude feature a 50 meters deep interior lagoon. Then we copntinue to the ceremonial village of Orongo. Orongo was a religious town, where people celebrated the transition from winter to summer time. Orongo means “messenger place”, and it received that name because of the migratory birds that arrived there every year. We finish the excursion visiting the Vinapu temple, temple ceremonial where we can see the architecture used by the ancient Rapa Nui culture, where they worshiped the ancestors of the islanders families. Return to the hotel and lodginig.
Day 27: Easter Island
Full day tour to Rano Raraku volcano, where you can see the Moais, famous giant human figures made of stone. Visit to the northern coast temples of Akahanga, Tongariki, Te Pito Kura, Ahu Nau Nau. Time to enjoy and relax in the beautiful beach of Anakena. Return to the Hotel and lodging.
Day 28: Easter Island
Half day tour to Ahu Akivi, there you will see 7 Moais, also visit to the caves of Ana Te Pahu and Ana Kai Tangata and later to the quarry of Puna Pau. Return to the hotel and lodging.
Day 29: Easter Island – Airport
Breakfast in the hotel. Transfer to the airport and typical farewell.
