This lagoon, with emerald waters, is another attraction in the north of the country.

Located 4200 meters above sea level and surrounded by volcanoes and mountains that surpass the 5500 meters, Laguna Verde (Green Lagoon) and its surroundings are the perfect place for mountain climbers.

The visual scenery is amazing. In the south shore, you can find the Lagoon's springs.

There isn't a lot of fauna in the area, only pequeñes and flamencos during summer time.


Incredible topography. Amazing landscape.

Third region. Located 100 kilometers east of Maricunga Salar and 265 kilometers northeast of Copiapo.

How to get there?

Santiago, Arica, Iquique, Antofagasta, Calama-Copiapo: Airway.

Anywhere-Copiapo: Land route, by Route 5 North. Public and private transportation.

Argentina-Copiapo: Land route, by Internacional Route CH-31, Paso San Francisco (280 kilometers to La Rioja)

Copiapo- Verde Lagoon: Land route, by International Route CH-31.

When to go?

January, February, March.


Desertic weather. The temperature oscillates between day and night time. The summer rain is more frequent with a high media of 14,8 milimeters. The high media temperature is 18,4ºC and the lowest is 4,9ºC.
