Ojos del Salado is the highest volcanoes in the Chilean Andes and the third in the American Continent with 6893 meters above sea level. The greatest active volcano in the world, it´s part of the “American Roof”, mountains that surpasses the 6.000 meters high. Ojos del Salado Volcano is the favorite one for mountain climbers during spring and summer time. If you want to climb it, the volcano features two refuges in the northwest slope. It has different landscapes like deserts, glacier valleys and sand fields, among others. You can access it only with a legal authorization. The excursions must be done with a guide and informed to Carabineros de Chile (Police department) as well as the Atacama Sernatur (National Service of Tourism), in case of emergency.

High desertic weather. The temperature oscillates between day and night time, and the summer rain is more frequent with a high media of 14,8 milimeters. The high media temperature is 18,4ºC and the lowest is -15ºC.
