To visit Punta Arenas, the southernmost city in the continental land mass, is a voyage through the history of Patagonia.
Itinerary
The first stop is held over the view point of “Cerro de la Cruz”, from where there is a magnificent panoramic view of the colorful top roofs, Strait of Magellan and in the background the large Island of Tierra del Fuego. In this stop lectures with very important information is given by the local guide. The tour continues throughout the very well kept street of the city toward the main square (Plaza de Armas), surrounded by beautiful buildings where is possible to buy some handy-crafts and it is located the monument to Ferdinand Magellan as well. Afterwards we will visit the Salesian Museum “Maggiorino Borgatello” founded by the Salesian Congregation in 1893. However, it is one of the oldest of its kind in Chile. This museum displays a complete collection about Patagonian Indians, flora, fauna, history and economy. In the last part of the tour the we are driven to the North of the city in order to see different monuments, such as Monument to the Shepherd, Croat Monument, Antoine de Saint Exupery square and different neighbourhoods till the return to hotel.
