Chile: Best Adventure Travel Destination in South America
You can glide down the slopes of our mountains skiing, navigate the waters of our lakes or rivers kayaking, rafting or diving. You can discover the immensity of our forests by canopying through the trees and walk through kilometers of vegetation between the earth and the sky along the trekking trails that exist throughout the country. Fishing, diving, paragliding, nights with thousands of stars, horseback riding and bungee jumping.
Whatever adventure you want to live you will find it in Chile. This is why we present you some of those places where the adrenaline rises, your heart beats and you get completely into the unique nature of our country.
Paragliding in Iquique: It is one of the best places in Chile to practice this sport. From the Cerro Dragon - a natural dune with more than 170 meters high - the take-off begins. From there, the paragliders reach heights of over 1000 meters and allow an incredible panoramic view of the beaches, the city and all its landscapes. Bungee jumping in the Cajón del Maipo: The Cajón del Maipo, less than an hour from Santiago, is one of the destinations with more adventure tourism activities that we can find. Here there is an activity only for the most daring: bungee jumping.
From the canyon that is formed in the Colorado River, booms are installed with all the necessary equipment to live this experience. The jump is made from a platform where the person is secured with a harness and a cable. The jump is an incredible sensation, an adrenaline rush that runs through the whole body, not to mention having lived a unique moment that will not be repeated. If you are not afraid of heights, this adventure is for you.
3.- Diving in Easter Island: One of the most beautiful experiences you can live in Easter Island is to dive in its waters and discover the secrets of its sea. Its waters are so transparent and pristine that you have a visibility of up to 60 meters away.
In addition to this, the waters of Easter Island - unlike most of the beaches of our country - are temperate, reaching up to 26ºC (79ºF). Another particularity is the endemic fauna that exists in its waters, with unique tropical fish that can only be found on the island and also sea turtles in the bay of Hanga Roa. Upon entering its waters you can discover a volcanic landscape, with caverns and arches, as well as a submerged moai that was installed for tourism.
4- Rafting on the Futaleufú River: Futaleufú is located in the X region, almost 400 kilometers from Puerto Montt, and stands out for the majestic river of the same name, which in Mapudungún means "big river", which is also one of the best rivers in the world for rafting.
It has sectors so dangerous that they even reach a 5 rating, surpassing the most intense rating for rafting, which is 5. But its turquoise waters, framed by canyons full of exuberant vegetation, are worth the risk. Even those who have never practiced this activity can enjoy sliding down the turbulent waters up to category 4 sectors, always counting on expert guides and good rafts with safety elements. Sport Climbing in Torres del Paine: This is an adventure reserved only for experts, since the morphological conditions of the Torres del Paine are highly technical and difficult. However, if you can do it, its granite columns that reach 1200 meters of altitude are the best reward.
The park has approximately 12 summits where sport climbing can be done, with different scales of complexity. Among them are the Big Walls, the south face of the South Tower, the east face of Cerro Fortaleza and Cerro Escudo. To climb in Torres del Paine you need a special permit that has no cost and can be requested at the National Park.
