Chile's Parks in Spring, Part 2
If you are in Santiago, one suggestion is to take advantage of this time to visit other regions of Chile. Rising temperatures, less rainfall and also low season, make spring the ideal time to venture on a trip and recharge your batteries before the end of the year. All you need is a weekend, comfortable and light but warm clothes -spring has a somewhat unstable weather- and a great desire to get into nature and disconnect from everything.
Quinta Normal Park: It is located in the neighborhood of Quinta Normal, in Santiago. It is an old and traditional park, created in 1841. It offers more than 40 hectares between parks, trails and an artificial lagoon.
In addition to this, there are museums inside that can be visited such as the National Museum of Natural History, the Railway Museum of Chile and the Museum of Science and Technology. In Quinta Normal Park there are also sports facilities and various activities to enjoy.
Peñuelas Lake Reserve: Located in the V Region, it is 20 minutes from the city of Valparaiso. It has 200 hectares of green areas where you can enjoy picnic areas, with fire pits for barbecues and camping tables.
One of the main attractions of the place is the pejerrey fishing, so the enthusiasts of this activity can venture out and try their luck. In addition, the reserve offers two interpretive trails to learn about the flora and fauna of the place, or to go hiking and biking.
Chiloé National Park: If you are lucky enough to be on the island of Chiloé, X region, a must is to visit this park that offers more than 42 thousand hectares. One of the most beautiful places in this park is Lake Cucao and the dune area.
It is also worth visiting the famous Muelle de Almas, a wooden bridge that stretches over the forest and allows a wonderful view of the sea. Simply magical.
Oncol Park: In Valdivia, in the Los Rios Region, we find a true paradise of the Valdivian forest. A wonderful and evergreen forest in more than 750 hectares where there are also camping areas, viewpoints with panoramic views and trails to explore. To get there you must travel 32 kilometers northwest of Valdivia.
Villarrica National Park: In the IX region of Araucania and has several natural areas to discover. There are multiple trails where you can appreciate the natural vegetation of the area such as araucaria and raulí. In its surroundings we find the volcanoes Villarrica, Quetrupillán and Lanín, so in addition to these activities you can visit the craters, caves and also a ski center.
