Discover the San Rafael Glacier

The San Rafael Glacier, one of the most attractive and dreamed destinations for Chileans and our visitors, is located within the National Park of Chile, declared a world reserve by UNESCO in 1979. It has 1,242,000 hectares of millenary beauty and is located at latitude 46 - 45 south of the Chilean Patagonia.

The ice of the San Rafael Glacier dates back more than 300,000 years and offers an impressive 2 km wide front with towers that rise more than 70 meters high and sink 230 meters below sea level. The San Rafael Glacier is 15 km long and its origin is from the Nevado San Valentín, in the Southern Ice Field of the Andes Mountain Range. Navigating through these spectacular channels is a once in a lifetime experience, amid the blue of the ice and the constant collapse of icebergs of different sizes and colors, have made this destination an international tradition. The Chonos Route: Departing from the picturesque Puerto Montt, this route takes us from Ancud in Chiloé to the Patagonian channels and arrives at the Quitralco Fjord, where you can take thermal baths. Through the glacial waters we reach Melinka, the Chonos archipelago.
