Enjoying the outdoors in the parks, part 1
With the time change, the days feel longer and the evenings longer. We can appreciate, despite the cold weather, that the trees in the houses and streets are beginning to bloom. Spring is beginning to arrive in Chile and with it, a series of panoramas to enjoy this rebirth of public spaces. It is a good opportunity to entertain in parks and squares. Therefore, we leave a first list of some nice and pleasant places in our country to start enjoying the change of season in our country.
1. Bicentennial Park:This park has 27 hectares of green areas and is located next to the Mapocho River, in the commune of Vitacura, in Santiago. Among its attractions we can mention a lagoon with different species of fish and birds such as flamingos, black-necked swans, herons, among others.
Next to the lagoon there are food dispensers, so visitors can feed the animals and get in contact with them. It has trails for jogging, walking or cycling, as well as various recreational activities to enjoy with the family. You can enjoy a very pleasant afternoon picnicking in its meadows and relaxing in front of the lagoon.
2. Quebrada Verde Park:This park is located a few minutes from downtown Valparaiso. It offers its visitors trails, a picnic area, an outdoor amphitheater and an educational farm. It also has a bicycle rental service, which allows you to ride along the 4 kilometers of trails in this park. It also offers exercise machines and a climbing wall.
In the educational farm we can find animals such as sheep, llamas, goats and other goats. Another attraction of this park are its beautiful viewpoints to the cliffs of Federico Santa Maria, facing the coast of Valparaiso.
3.- Japanese Garden of La Serena:The Japanese Garden of La Serena or Garden of the Heart "Kokoro No Niwa", is located next to the Plaza de Armas of La Serena. It was designed by the Japanese landscape designer Akira Ohira and offers 500 meters of paths and spaces, with water lagoons and beautiful colorful bridges.
In the lagoons you can observe black-necked swans, turtles and other birds.
4. Buin Zoo:The largest zoo in Chile is located approximately 30 minutes from Santiago, in the commune of Buin. It has 12 hectares and more than 2000 animals of 400 different species and is divided by zones, depending on the origin of the species: America, Oceania, Asia, Europe, Africa and Chile. It also has an Aviary, a Herpetarium and a Nocturama - habitat for nocturnal animals.
Another of its attractions is the Parque de Asis, a cemetery for pets located in a beautiful meadow, where you can visit and enjoy nature. The Buin Zoo is an entertaining family outing for a whole day outdoors.
5.- Rancagua Safari Park:The Safari Park is located in Rancagua and offers attractive "safari" rides to meet various species inside the park. There is a safari to see the big cats - tigers and lions - where visitors can take a closed jeep and go into the habitat of these animals.
Another safari is the herbivore safari, which consists of a train ride through the areas where giraffes, zebras, antelopes, among others, can be found. In addition to this there is a third safari called Jurassic, which is a journey through various species of dinosaur animatronics. In addition to this, the park has green areas, lagoons, farm animals that can be fed, a restaurant, toilets and a picnic area. For children there are activities such as a zip line, trampolines, video game area and a virtual roller coaster.
