Meeting the emperor penguin, another adventure in Antarctica

These particular birds are the largest penguins in existence, measuring up to one meter and 20 centimeters. They are characterized by the yellow plumage on their chest and ears. Their reproductive cycle is also very interesting. They are the only species that reproduces during the Antarctic winter, where the females lay a single egg that is cared for and hatched by the male while she returns to the sea to feed. Subsequently, the parents take turns caring for their chicks. You can witness this beautiful ritual by sailing to Antarctica through the Wedell Sea in a unique expedition in which we can reach all the inaccessible corners through helicopters and discover the nesting sites of the emperor penguins.

After crossing the Drake Passage from the Argentine city of Ushuaia, we will sail towards the Wedell Sea. This sea is known for the presence of ice shelves, huge icebergs that welcome us to the eastern sector of the Antarctic Peninsula. One of the most interesting places to discover is the Farallon Brown, one of the most beautiful places with volcanic terrain where the Adelie penguins build their nests.

From the helicopter you can contemplate wonderful landscapes, with glaciers floating in the open sea, surrounded by ice floes. Then the expedition will advance as far as the sea ice allows, entering the Wedell Sea to discover the Vega and Diablo islands, with large penguin colonies. On Seymour Island, we will be able to discover multiple fossils. Embark on this fascinating adventure, a paradise for marine wildlife lovers.
