On June 21, at 00:24, the Winter Solstice began in our country. Low temperatures are especially concentrated in the central and southern area and despite the cold, there are places that are filled with magic in this season and become the ideal place for weekends or winter vacations.
It is always beautiful to meet again with the mountains, especially the Cajón del Maipo, which is a few kilometers away from the city of Santiago. In winter, the Cordillera dresses in white and allows you to enjoy the snow. If you are interested in skiing and mountain sports, here is the Lagunillas Ski Center, where you can slide down the gentle slopes. If you just want to take a walk, just go along the road. The higher you go, the more snow you find in the surroundings and many visitors take the opportunity to take pictures and build snow monkeys.
Embalse del Yeso: Another of the attractions of Cajón del Maipo in winter is the Embalse del Yeso. This beautiful lake of turquoise waters is located in the area of El Romeral, at approximately 3000 meters above sea level. Hot Springs: In the Cajón del Maipo we can find pools of thermal waters where you can relax and enjoy their healing properties. There are hot springs in Baños Morales and Baños Colina, however, in winter they may be closed and the roads are difficult to access.

El Morado Natural Monument: During the winter, this natural area is covered with snow providing a landscape of unique beauty. Due to the risk of avalanches, it is not allowed to reach all its attractions such as the Laguna Morada. But you can visit the area of Aguas Panimávidas and practice randonee, a unique experience in the middle of the mountain.
