Vacations in Sietelagos
The Seven Lakes tour is another of the wonderful routes that you can do in the south of Chile. It starts in the commune of Panguipulli, in the Region of Los Rios, and this is the starting point for an adventure in the middle of lakes, volcanoes, hot springs, glaciers, forests and mountains, with amazing landscapes and activities to enjoy nature to the fullest.
In the route of the Seven Lakes there are several destinations you should visit. Starting with the town of Panguipulli, which in Mapudungun means "spirit of pumas". Among its attractions is the lake of the same name, which has an area of 116 square meters and its beaches, highlighting the Chauquén beach, which has clear sands, very calm waters and an island in front of his things, so if you are a good swimmer, it is an interesting challenge.
The tour continues in Choshuenco, located in the southern sector of Lake Panguipulli. Here we find the entrance to the Mocho Choshuenco National Reserve and multiple outdoor activities, such as rafting on the Fuy River, trekking inside the park, kayaking in the rivers, recreational fishing and many more.
Another attraction is the remains of the steamship Enco, a ship that was abandoned on the beach and was used for years for transportation from Panguipulli to the area. Today its remains are part of the landscape, as is the Mocho Choshuenco volcano that is framed in the background of the horizon. Choshuenco is located next to the Huilo Huilo Biosphere Reserve, an incredible protected area, with waterfalls, waterfalls, trails, hotels built in the same forest and an environment of tranquility and nature that will surprise you. If you want to get there, you must travel the 15 kilometers that separate Choshuenco Neltume.
Neltume is the gateway to Huilo Huilo and worth knowing this quiet town for its Los Robles Avenue, which shows the logging activity in the area, with beautiful sculptures related to the history of the people. In Neltume, in addition to the Reserve Huilo Huilo, there are other attractions such as the rural Mapuche community in the lake of the same name, and a wetland environment in the midst of sustainable tourism alternatives. Following the route of the Seven Lakes, we will arrive at Puerto Fuy. It is a beautiful place where you can make a connection with Argentina through the Huahum pass that takes you to the city of San Martin de los Andes.
The crossing consists of a wonderful boat ride from Puerto Fuy to Puerto Pirihueico, enjoying unique landscapes with mountains full of vegetation and rocks that sink into the waters of Lake Pirihueico. Arriving at the other side, we are just 11 kilometers from the border with Argentina and the possibility of discovering other destinations such as Bariloche and Lagos.
On the other hand, the natural surroundings of Puerto Fuy are the ideal setting for all kinds of activities such as horseback riding, sport fishing, bird watching, mountain biking, trekking trails, to mention a few. During the winter, snow crowns the entire landscape, increasing the magical charm of the area. If we continue moving forward we will reach the town of Liquiñe, which is known as the hot springs paradise of the Siete Lagos route. Besides the possibility of resting and relaxing in these healing waters, in Liquiñe we can find Mapuche handicrafts and gastronomy, as well as the possibility of going into its beautiful nature trails, such as the one that leads to the Salto de la Niña Encantada, a beautiful waterfall framed between rocks and vegetation.
Between Liquiñe and Coñaripe - the last destination of the Seven Lakes route - there are several hot springs centers such as Termas del Río Liquiñe, Termas de Coñaripe, Termas Geométricas, Termas de Manquecura, to name a few. Arriving at Coñaripe, we find a pleasant seaside resort located in front of Lake Calafquén. Its beach is incredible, with dark sands and calm and warm waters, where you can spend the whole afternoon just enjoying its tranquility. The Coñaripe waterfront is part of the Sendero de Chile and from here you can access the Quetrupillán sector of the Villarrica National Park. For this, you need a 4x4 vehicle, but it will allow you to get to know one of the most beautiful forests in the park, with a large number of native tree species.
From Coñaripe you can also access Lake Pellaifa, which is also part of the Seven Lakes Route. Here we find a unique landscape created by the remains of a sunken forest that are submerged in its waters and where you can still see the tree trunks.
If you love nature and are looking to disconnect and fully enjoy beautiful places, delicious gastronomy, tradition and culture, do not miss the possibility of taking the Seven Lakes route and return recharged with the energy of these beautiful places.
