Tierra del Fuego

Know Tierra del Fuego

Discovered by Hernando de Magallanes, Tierra del Fuego (Fire Land) has different nature attractions combined with an important cultural area. Its channels and islands hold native indian vestiges. The onas and yaganes turned it into an important archaeological destination for visitors from all over the world. In old times it was possible to see ona´s bonfires, thus its name of land of fire; today you can enjoy the fauna like seadogs, seagulls and seals, in an almost virgin landscape (there are just a few cattle ranchs and petroleum plants). The hiding lakes –like the Lynch and Baquedano- between its forests, are some of its major attractions and they are ideal places to practice sport fishing, adventure tourism and other outdoor activities.
