Description

The Casablanca Valley is located in the V Region of Chile, between the Coastal Mountain Range and the Pacific Ocean, exactly one hour from Santiago and half an hour from Valparaíso. It is crossed by the highway "Ruta 68" that connects both cities.

It is recognized as the best valley in Chile for growing and producing white wines, especially Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, as well as cool-climate reds such as Pinot Noir, Syrah, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc.

Being a relatively young valley, all its vineyards have the latest technology and the main objective of all winemakers in the area is the care of one of the most important resources for life, water. For this reason all the vineyards in the valley have drip irrigation systems.

The total area of the valley is 22,000 hectares and the planted area is 5,800 hectares. It has a frost control system and 8 weather stations. It has a warm temperate climate with an average temperature of 14°C (57°F).

The best time to visit Santiago is during spring (September to November) and summer (December to March), when temperatures are pleasant (between 18°C and 30°C) and there are many outdoor activities, such as hiking, vineyard visits and city tours. Autumn (April to June) is also a good option for the beautiful colors of the landscapes and moderate temperatures, while winter (June to September) is ideal for those who wish to do snow sports in the Andes Mountains.

Yes, especially if you visit popular places or do popular activities, such as vineyard tours, hiking in the Andes Mountains, or excursions to the Cajón del Maipo hot springs. During high season (November to March), it is advisable to book in advance to ensure availability, as tours and activities can fill up quickly.

Santiago offers a wide variety of gastronomic options, from traditional dishes such as empanadas, curanto (a seafood and meat stew), asados, to international cuisine. In the surrounding area, especially in the wine valleys, you can taste dishes based on fresh seafood, ceviche, and grilled meat. Also, do not miss the wines of the region and the famous Chilean pisco. If you visit Cajón del Maipo, you can try homemade dishes in the local estancias.
