We invite you to discover some of the history of saltpeter in Chile with this wonderful trip to the Humberstone and Santa Laura Saltpeter, meet the architecture and the constructions that gave life to this ghost town.Itinerary
Departures: 08:30 hrs. and 16:00 hrs.
Departure from the city of Iquique to the pampas, during the ascent we will appreciate a spectacular panoramic view of the city by the sea and its beautiful beaches, most notably the sharp Dragon Hill.
Continue through the arid Pampa that presents his vast and beautiful contrast of colors. We stop at the former saltpeter Humberstone and Santa Laura, declared National Monument, where we discover the glorious past of the saltpeter.
Its architecture includes boilers, chimneys, church, shop, hotel and theater. We continue our journey, leaving behind ghost towns and we will maje a pause in Pozo Almonte.
We visited the town of Tirana, where every July 16 is celebrated one of the most important religious festivals in the country.
Then visit the Oasis of Matilda, which had the XVII century church and the Spanish Lagar, former producer of wine center. We will follow the Oasis of Pica also presents its seventeenth-century church.
