Itinerary

Check in at Santiago Airport 3 hours prior to the scheduled departure time. You will then board the Santiago–Balmaceda flight. Upon arrival in Balmaceda, we will meet the passengers at the airport and transfer to Coyhaique. We will take a tour of the city, visiting the award-winning Regional Museum, the Simpson River viewpoints, and the iconic Shepherd Monument. We will then check in at the hotel and enjoy a welcome dinner. Overnight in Coyhaique.

On this first day, we will explore an extensive section of the Northern Carretera Austral. This route will take us through majestic forests and glacial valleys surrounded by imposing mountains. On the way to our first destination, we will admire various natural attractions such as the Simpson River, Mañihuales River, Lago Las Torres Reserve, Piedra del Gato, and Cisnes River. Continuing along this route, we will reach Bahía Dorita, where we will board a covered boat that will take us to Puyuhuapi Lodge & Spa. There, we will enjoy a welcome drink and settle in. We will have time to enjoy the spa and outdoor thermal pools. Overnight at Puyuhuapi Lodge & Spa.

After breakfast, feeling energized and revitalized, we will continue our journey to our next destination: La Junta. Discover the magic of Puyuhuapi, a charming village founded by settlers from Chiloé and Germany. From there, we will board a boat to navigate the impressive Patagonian fjords, the perfect setting for birdwatching in their natural habitat. The day continues with a tour to the picturesque town of La Junta, where passengers will enjoy comfortable accommodation surrounded by unique nature. Overnight in La Junta.

After breakfast, we continue our journey along the Northern Carretera Austral, traveling approximately 145 km north towards the town of Chaitén, in the Los Lagos Region. Our goal is to explore Pumalín National Park, with its deep forests descending towards the fjords, creating one of the most spectacular coastal landscapes on the planet. Hundreds of waterfalls cascade down from the glaciers onto granite cliffs, while Michimahuida and Chaitén volcanoes crown the landscape. The undisputed protagonist is the endangered Alerce tree: 25% of the country's remaining specimens are protected within this park, and some are nearly three thousand years old, telling the eternal story of this pristine ecosystem in Palena Province. We will explore the park and take a moment to embrace an Alerce tree before returning to La Junta. Overnight in La Junta.

After breakfast, we continue our adventure through the majestic southern forests. Today we will explore Queulat National Park, whose name in the Chono language means “Sound of Waterfalls.” This unique landscape is characterized by evergreen and Patagonian Andean forests, impressive waterfalls, fjords, steep cliffs, powerful rivers, and its famous hanging glacier, visible from the Carretera Austral. We continue our journey south, having lunch in Puerto Cisnes and visiting the towns of Villa Amengual and Villa Mañihuales, until reaching Puerto Chacabuco. Overnight at Hotel Loberías del Sur in Chacabuco.

After breakfast, we will head to the city of Puerto Aysén, located on the banks of the Aysén River, approximately 3 km inland from the Aysén Fjord. We will take a historical and heritage tour of the city, highlighting its vernacular architecture, characterized by native wood constructions, and its attractive Presidente Ibáñez Suspension Bridge. As the first capital of the Aysén Region, the city invites us to walk through its streets before continuing the day with lunch. Patagonian culture and identity will be our hosts, with stories of settlement and local music enriching the afternoon. Overnight at Hotel Loberías del Sur in Puerto Chacabuco.
Optional: San Rafael Lagoon by catamaran with Catamaranes del Sur, Puerto Chacabuco (please inquire about rates to your agent).

Breakfast. Transfer to Balmaceda Airport to board the flight to Santiago. End of services.
