Concepcion and Arauco

Get to know more about the Destination

This destination is an important industrial, scientific and cultural center in the country, that combines modern and traditional times.

In the last century, the zone was inhabitated by German coloners, who left their cultural traditions behind. The culture is one of the main activities thanks to the University of Concepcion.

The handmade craftwork is another popular activity in the region. In February you can see the Popular Art Fair in Ecuador Park, which offers diverse cultural activities for the visitor.

Also, the zone has beaches like Laraquete, Quidico and Llico.

This destination is also known by its historical value. In Talcahuano, you will find the Huascar Battleship from the Pacific War, and in Lota you will find the Chiflon del Diablo Mine, the inspiration element for Baldomero Lillo's work, writer who liked to take elements of Chilean tradition to inspire his plays and stories.
