The area offers beautiful geography and fertile crop fields. The land where Gabriela Mistral was born has great cultural and archaeological interest. It has an ideal landscape for outdoor activities and sports around nature, another attraction for those who visit Chile. Besides, its clear skies permit to enjoy astronomical observation. It has scientific constructions like Cerro Totolo and Mamalluca Astronomical Observatories, both with high technology. Climate

Semiarid. Arid by the north and mild by the south. The shore temperatures are homogeneuos, meanwhile in the interior the temperature oscillates between day and night time. Rain during winter season.
