Cerro Castillo National Reserve was created to preserve natural conditions and to protect the soil and exotic flora and fauna in the region. This reserve, with more than 100 thousand hectares, was created by the end of 1970 in the south of Aysen. Crossed by the Austral Route, the reserve has an special topography with hills that pass 1500 meters above the sea (Castillo and Iglesia Hills). Its natural beauty and its ancestral archeological culture, turn it in one of the most beautiful wild areas in the country, and Rio Ibañez valley still shows signs of the Selknam patrimony.
