Itinerary
Departure from Hotel in San Pedro de Atacama, through the Salt Mountain Range, crossing the Domeyko Mountain Range. Arrival in the Lasana Valley, where we will see several petroglyphs dating back 400 A.D. to the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors.
We will visit the Pukará de Lasana, Atacama stone fortress built between the 9th and 12th centuries, reflection of the splendour of this culture. Perched on the cliff over the river, featuring defensive walls looking to the west, the Pukará was the shelter for chiefs and the administration, beside being a shelter for the population.
After that, we will stop at Chiu Chiu, to visit the church of San Francisco, the oldest in Chile, declared National Monument. This town is located in a true oasis, which in pre-Hispanic times was also part of the Inca Trail.
