Itinerary
Depart from your Hotel in San Pedro of Atacama, and travel up into the Andes Mountain Range, along the Licancabur Volcano and the Zapalieri River, then head east through the International Highway to Paso Jama (that connects Chile with Argentina), until reaching 4.500 meters above sea level.
Make a first stop at the Quepiaco wetlands, where you will have the chance to observe typical fauna; mainly Flamingoes and vicuñas. Then continue up to Los Monjes de la Pacana (Pacana Monks), a basin where you can see the remains of volcanic sediment eroded by environmental factors such as water and wind, which causes the rocks even to take on human forms, forming the main attraction of the place.
Then the tour takes a detour from the highway, until reaching the Tara Salt Flat, where you will make a short trek along its walking trails and you will be able to admire the incredible background landscape surrounded by great volcanoes, where some rivers and lagoons develop inside the salt flat. It is considered one of the most beautiful natural sites among the touristic places of interest that surround San Pedro de Atacama.
Upon completion of the tour, it is time to return to your Hotel in San Pedro de Atacama
