Transfer Calama Airport - San Pedro Hotel
Moon Valley (Valle de la Luna)

Reception and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama, from Calama Airport. In the afternoon departure from hotel to Valle de la Luna (15:30 hrs. in summer and 14:30 hrs. in winter. Subject to confirmation). If you come to San Pedro de Atacama you can not miss this unique place in the world, the Valley of the Moon, in the middle of the deep aridity of the Cordillera de la Sal we find a landscape of salt and clay modeled by water and wind for millions of years, in our tour we will visit the Tres Marias, the Canyon, La Duna Mayor and the Amphitheater for the extravagant forms that the mountain range gives us inciting the imagination and reflection for its tranquility. As the afternoon passes we will go to the viewpoint of Kari (Piedra del Coyote) to enjoy one of the best views of the Valley of the Moon, to finally finish watching the sunset through its colors that give us a wonderful end to our trip.

At 07:00 - 07:40 am (pick up is 30 minutes before in reception of the hotel). In this excursion, we will visit Piedras Rojas (Red Stones) located in the Tara Salt Flat with its fascinating and beautiful red-colored landscape, remarked by its owe-inspiring geological formations born from the rusting of the iron. After that, we will go through the path to the Altiplano in order to visit the Miscanti and Miñiques Lagoons, located more than 4,200 meter above the sea level and surrounded by great and imposing volcanoes from the Andes Mountain Range and flora and fauna in their natural environment. We will continue to Chaxa Lagoon, a scenery and beautiful landscape, divided into several water mirrors where a great number of flamingoes and other birds such as Andean Flamingoes. Finally, before we return, while the landscape features marvelous views of the Licancabur and Lascar Volcanoes, we will visit Toconao with a tyPical colonial architecture, San Lucas Church, the first National Monument.

Our trip to the altiplano begins during the early morning to finally reach one of the most important geothermal fields in the world, the "Geisers del Tatio", surrounded by water and steam emanations we will enjoy the beauty of the Andes and with this natural scenery we will offer you a replenishing breakfast. Then we will visit the "Pozon Rustico" where you can enjoy the hot springs that the mountain range gives us. Taking the road back to San Pedro de Atacama you will be able to enjoy the beauty of the landscape, native flora and fauna and finally from a viewpoint we will observe the town of Machuca, place of ancestral llama shepherds. We will observe the flora and fauna of the Putana River such as Vicuñas, llamas, rheas, vizcachas, flamingoes, ducks and seagulls.

The best time to visit is between October and April, when temperatures are more pleasant and all tourist activities can be carried out without major inconveniences. However, the weather in the Atacama Desert is unpredictable, so it is recommended to be prepared for temperature changes.
Yes, although daytime temperatures can be warm, nights in the desert can be very cold. It is advisable to bring light clothing for the day and warm clothes for the night, as well as a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses.
The most common way to get there is to fly from Santiago to Calama Airport, and then by land vehicle to San Pedro de Atacama (which is about 100 km from Calama).
Yes, especially in high season. San Pedro de Atacama is a popular destination, so it is recommended to book tours in advance to secure your place, at least 48 hours in advance if you plan to visit the most popular places.

San Pedro de Atacama is over 2,400 meters above sea level, and some of the tourist destinations, such as the Tatio Geysers and Lagunas Altiplánicas, are over 4,300 meters above sea level. It is important to stay hydrated, avoid alcohol in the early hours and take it easy during the first day. If you have problems with the altitude, it is advisable to talk to your guide.
In our tours the vehicle stops at the most important places of interest to make short walks, usually to get closer and have a better experience or better views. They are easy in physical terms.

Estuvo todo muy bueno ....los tours cumplieron lo prometido, los guias muy preocupados de los pasajeros y de contar datos históricos o anecdóticos del lugar visitado y los hostales muy completos.
Algunos tours deberían deberían tomar mas tiempo en ciertos lugares como por ejemplo en la visita a los geisers en que el tiempo para disfrutar de las aguas termales lo encontré muy corto

The Kimmal Hotel in San Pedro was very good. The property was very clean, in an excellent location and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The Tour Arcqueologico was excellent - a small group with the leader being totally fluent in both Spanish and English and telling both groups of travellers the same information. The other three - Valle de la luna, Salar y Lagunas and Geysers del tatio y machuca were good. The size of the groups was more than I expected and generally, the guides appeared to spend more time focused on the Spanish speaking customers than those fluent only in English. There was no problem with their English speaking ability. To the extent questions are raised during a tour, it would be useful if the leader responded to such questions in both Spanish and English so that all persons felt that they were being given the same information.
