Vicuña National Reserve

Las Vicuñas National Reserve has 209131 hectares, right in the highlands, Puna and the Estepa Altoandina ecology region.

Located in Putre, it has different topographic attractions like plains, valleys and heights like Puquintica and Arintica Hills, both over the 5500 meters.

In the National Reserve, it`s also possible to find archaeological patrimony with the prehispanic apachetas and altars, made of rocks, as well as sanctuaries at the top of the hills.

You can find native population (aymaras).

Iquique-Peru: Land route, by Panamericana Highway from Iquique and Tacna.

Bolivia-Arica: Land route, by Route CH-11 Tambo Quemado, that goes through Parinacota from La Paz, Bolivia.

Anywhere-Arica: Airway and Seaway (Carlos Ibañez del Campo Port)

Arica, Bolivia-las Vicuñas national Reserve: Land route, by International Route CH-11 Arica- Tambo Quemado. Then take Route A-235.

When to go?

All year long.

Climate

Desert weather. The temperature oscillates between day and night time, and the summer rain is more frequent with a high media of 260 milimeters. The media temperature is 8ºC during day and goes from -5ºC to -15ºC during night time.
