With 19.116 inhabitants, Puerto Natales was founded in 1911 and today it´s one of the most important urban centers in Patagonia.

Located in the north side of the region, between the Pacific Ocean and Argentina, Puerto Natales has marvelous geography with different geographic formations such as valleys, fjords, archipelagos and millenary ice fields.

Its irregular weather conditions allow the visitor to practice tourism activities. It´s a city with an incredible architecture and natural landscapes.

Attractions

Flora and fauna. Colorful architecture and hand made crafts. Places that stand out are Muelle Pescadores Artesanales, Arturo Prat Sqare –with pine trees and poplar trees-, Parroquial Church –built at the beginning of the 20th century-, street paintings that show the native population's history, Salesiano Museum and Pueblo Artesanal.

Twelfth region. Located 246 kilometers north of Punta Arenas.

Santiago-Punta Arenas: Airway.

Punta Arenas-Puerto Natales: Land route, by Route 9 north.

Santiago-Puerto Montt: Land route and airway.

Puerto Montt-Puerto Natales: Seaway.

Argentina-Puerto Natales: Land route, by crossing the border from Dorotea, Casa Viejas and Río Don Guillermo.

When to go?

All year long.

Climate

Cold moderate rainy weather, without dry season but with microclimates. The annual media temperature is 8°C, meanwhile during summer time the temperature goes from 10° to 18°C. The annual media rain is 450 milimiters.
